I really enjoyed doing this project because it was fun filming other people and I put a lot of effort into this project. My favorite part was interviewing the student because I felt like I was an actual interviewer from a television show and using all the advanced equipment was really fun. I also enjoyed filming my friends because I thought chess was an interesting topic to film and it was really fun to watch the chess game while filming it. Some challenges was rooms in the school were all too white so many of my shots look too white and bright even after I white balance it. Another challenge while doing this project was filming an extreme wide shot. It was hard because the classroom was too small to film an extreme wide shot so I had to change my plan when editing my video.

Interviewing someone is very common thing I see in my daily life and I expected it to be very easy. However, it seems like there is a lot of things you should care/think about. First, when doing an interview, you shouldn’t tell what questions you are going to ask before the interview so they won’t sound fake. Second, the position of your camera matters especially if you don’t have a microphone. Third, interview is more of a conversation than an interrogation and this is important so that the person you interview feel comfortable. Fourth, you should ask “anything else you like to add?” so you can wrap up the conversation and the person you interview can say everything they wanted to tell. Fifth, you have to interview at their eye level and use the rule of thirds so the views know that this is an interview and feel comfortable watching it. Overall, interviewing something requires hard work and it seems harder than it looks.
I choose this six word story because I came from another country and I thought that healthcare in America was really bad. I made this funny on purpose because when I said I was going to do these six words, most people's first reaction was "haha that's funny". My first shot was extreme wide shot because it had to shot the patient getting hurt in just 1 shot. My second shot was bird eye's view because I was showing the patient lying down in a hospital. Third shot is POV from the student watching the doctor coming in to the room and the fourth shot is doctor's POV watching the patient. I choose this because I wanted to show different view from two different characters. My fifth shot was wide shot to show that patient was getting kicked out of the hospital. My sixth shot was wide but depth shot to make the audience feel like the patient wasn't welcomed. I liked this project because overall I had fun and I felt like I was some kind of movie director making my own film because I told the actor what to do.
Things I learned about six words story is that Ernest Hemingway was the first person to make 6 words story. His six word story "For sale: baby shoes, never worn," is the most famous one. He made this story when he was with friends at a restaurant and he made a bet with his friends. Ernest bet that he can make a story with just six words on a napkin and he won the bet against his friends. This led to idea called flash fiction which was writing with absolute minimum words possible.
I am video project was a fun project where I faced many unexpected challenges. It was fun because I got to look at my old photos and see my old memories again. Also, I felt like I was a director of a movie since I get to edit a trailer like introduction video. However, I faced some challenges too. Since I was a person who de not take picture, it was difficult to find pictures of me. Also when I immigrated to America, I left many photos in South Korea so that made the project even harder. I think I communicated my purpose effectively because I think I did a good job on showing what kind of person I am. |
